Hello – this is a very brief newsletter for now just to let you know the new current situtation with the availability of the new smartHinge.

As per the information on the smartHinge website I’m expecting to receive the first consignment of these in the first week of February and I will be enabling the website to take PayPal and credit card payments a few days in advance of that. I am initially only accepting orders from customers in UK, Europe and Australia – if you are outside these regions and you place an order you will not get your hinges until I get my next delivery which may not be until early March.
Australian orders
will be forwarded direct from the maker and US customers please see below.

I am only receiving a relatively small number initially – and as rave reviews are due to appear in the UK WW press over the next few days I’ve set up a private smartHinge pre-order page on my website so that my newsletter subscribers can order theirs ahead of the rush. But please note
that you will not actually receive them until the week starting Feb 7th at the earliest – there are a lot of people waiting for these so if you don’t take this opportunity they might not be available again until the beginning of March.

US customers – I’m afraid you will have to wait a little longer. Doug Stowe will be reviewing the smartHinge in Fine Woodworking a little later in the year and I will make sure I have supply to US sorted to coincide with that.

Please note that the smartHinge will not be available from any retail outlets so you will only be able to buy it through the smartHinge website.

“For professionals in a hurry, or home woodworkers frustrated by ill-fitting lids, smartHinges are a revelation, a real Eureka moment that are worth the cost for a quality result. They will transform your boxes and boxmaking.”

[from Nick Gibbs’ ‘British Woodworking‘ review, out at the end of January.]
